100 years of oil exploitation surrounding the Palagua marsh have left an indelible mark, not only on the landscape and ecosystems, but also on the minds and spirit of the communities who call it their home. Self-recognition of the harm oil has inflicted on each person's life force, desires and relationships with the marsh, is a slow and painful process. This video, arranged through the true voices of Palagua, seeks to highlight the internal process that occurs when individuals awaken to the ways in which they have been transformed by living with oil. To awaken consciousness and realize the depth of internal colonialism becomes a transformative power that engenders the possibility of existing without oil.
